Kelly Kinahan “K’K.” is visiting from Upstate New York and is certified in Classical Pilates Mat 1 as developed by Joseph Pilates. Her experience includes over 10 years of ballet in her youth, teaching Ballroom Dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and adult ballet classes through Boston Ballet that included barre and floor combinations.

Workshop will begin with a mindful meditation & transition into subtle movements that begin to “wake up” the body through stretching and yoga poses. The remaining class focuses on Classical Pilates mat exercises. Each week she will incorporate new Pilates exercises.

It is not required to attend all four classes, however, if you are looking to learn majority of Pilates Mat exercises it is encouraged to come to all four sessions.

Each exercise will incorporate the Core Principals of Pilates: Breath, Concentration, Centering, Control, Precision and Flow providing overall body conditioning that develops core and back strength, increases flexibility, coordination and balance.

Classes taught in English. No previous experience necessary and modifications made for all levels of experience. Please discuss any areas of concern with Kelly prior to class.

Brief History of Pilates: Developed by Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) as a form of rehabilitation intended to strengthen the human mind & body for soldiers returning from war. He relocated from Europe to America settling in New York City where he opened a studio with his wife, Clara. He trained dancers to assist them with strengthening and lengthening their bodies, help prevent injury and rehabilitate those who had injury.
