The Internal Family Systems model is based upon the idea that every mind is made up of “parts”, which are distinct elements of our psyche that have unique beliefs, values, emotions, and perspectives of our lives. At times these “parts” can come into conflict with each other. This can lead to periods of stuckness, frustration, and fighting against ourselves. The goal of Internal Family Systems is to identify and understand the different parts of ourselves, which can help people to improve resilience and self-esteem, gain clarity, & live more fully in the present.
